Sophie Maloney usually works with oils on canvas, focusing on coastal sea and landscapes. Her work captures the scale, depth and textures of her subjects through the expressive and expansive use of her medium. She has exhibited paintings for a number of years at the at Summer at the Beach community art exhibition in Waterbeach, Cambridgeshire and also at the Cambridge Open Art Exhibition. Living on the edge of the Fens, Sophie is inspired by the beautiful countryside which surrounds her, especially the historic competition between water and land. She is delighted to have the opportunity to show a selection of her works at The Old Shop - Creative Space in Hingham in the gallery’s second exhibition.

Sue Barnes has always been fascinated by architecture, specifically the strong dramatic lines of buildings, designed and created in a wide range of styles and materials. On creating her prints, in addition to exploring the building itself, she is also drawn to the negative space that surrounds her subject. To Sue, this negative space is as important as the image itself and, through her creative process, can become an image in its own right. Her work is graphic, striking, colourful hand screen printing and she is delighted to have this opportunity to show her artwork at The Old Shop - Creative Space.
